Happy Friday!! I am so excited to finally share this highly requested blog post with you all today. So I just want to start off by saying thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to all my readers and followers. Without your continuous support I would not be able to continue to do what I love most. Sharing all of this information with you all is what I love doing, and I feel so honored that you guys want to know more about me! That being said, lets get started! So I get my hair done by my amazing sister Laken Register, she is seriously so TALENTED!! I can’t begin to tell you how amazing her work is, between hair and makeup she truly is a star to me! She works at Hair + Tonic in Downtown Gulfport, MS so if you are in the area I highly recommend you make an appointment with her!
H A I R E X T E N S I O N
Yes, I have hair extension!! I know most of you did not know that about me.. But I have no choice if I want to have long hair because my real hair doesn’t grow past my shoulders. I have tried taking so many different hair vitamin but unfortunately I am allergic to biotin, every time I try to take it I break out all over so I just quit taking it. I have been wearing hair extension for about 2 years now and I love them, they are a lot of work but if you want long hair like me then it’s worth it. I wear the tape in extensions, which are a thin tape weft, 1 inch wide pre-taped hair wefts, they are taped in between your own hair like a “sandwich.” I have worn a few different brands of extensions throughout the two years of wearing them so I will talk about each brand I’ve worn.
GLAM SEAMLESS HAIR EXTENSIONS
When I first got extension I tried this brand first, I can’t remember why I chose this brand first but I got the Invisi-Tape Skin Weft Hair Extension. I absolutely loved these extensions, and they lasted me up to 3 uses. The reasons I liked these extensions so much was one being they were 100% remy human hair, and two they were super thick. That being said, if you have thin hair like I do then going with a thicker extension can always be risky because it can weight your hair down and it can also cause breakage. When I took these out the second time we did notice a little breakage so my sister recommended getting an extension that wasn’t so thick. However, these extension are great quality and I really liked the hair personally but I think it was just too much on my hair. Also, this brand of extensions is really expensive so if you are on a budget like I am than you might look at some other options.
DONNA BELLA HAIR EXTENSIONS
I have used this brand of extensions the most out of all three I’ve tried and these are fabulous. If you are looking into getting tape in extensions this is the brand I would recommend you getting. I’ve never had any problems with this brand and the hair quality is great as well. These are 100% remy hair and they come in different lengths depending on how long you want to go. I wore the 18 inch Straight Tape Hair Extension and this length was perfect for me. I have tired all of their hair products they have to offer and they are inexpensive and really great for the extensions. These extensions will last you up to 3 uses depending on how you take care of them, and they aren’t over priced at all.
TWISTED FRINGE HAIR EXTENSIONS
I am currently wearing the 18 inch Straight Tape Hair Extensions and I really like them. However, I do like the Donna Bella hair extensions better. But these extension are more convent to me because my sister can purchase them a Armstrong rather than having to go through the hassle of ordering them online. I am on my second round of these extensions, meaning I just moved them up last week. I haven’t had any problems with breakage which is great! These are not over priced at all, I believe these are cheaper than the Donna Bella ones, but I’m not 100% sure. If you are just wanting tape in for an event like your wedding I would recommend these extensions for that. But for me I think I am going to go back to the Donna Bella after I get my 3 uses in.
H A I R E X T E N S I O N CARE
So I’m sure you are wondering what it takes to have these extensions so I will share all the details with you. It’s pretty easy to take care of your extensions, it’s just like taking care of your own hair but you have to be cautious when it comes to product use. Everything you use on your hair has to be SULFATE FREE, this is the more important thing to remember because if you don’t it can cause the extension to come out. It’s not hard to find products that are sulfate free, most high quality hair products are. Even before I had extensions I used products that were sulfate free because it is better for you hair. I wash my hair about 3-4 times a week depending on what I have planned, the days I feel it’s more dirty I do use dry shampoo. I will have all of my hair products linked below. I wanna talk a little bit about the process of taking the extension out. So I usually get my hair done every 6-7 weeks, and that’s when I get my extensions moved up as well. Also, this must be done by a professional I would not advise you to do this on you own. Anyways, when taking the extensions out you will need to purchase the extension hair removing oil, every extension brand offers it. So you will put the oil above each extensions and let it set for about 30 minutes then you can begin to take the extensions out. Laken has never had a problem getting the extensions out of my hair, but the tape can sometimes stick to your own hair and that can be tricky but it does come out after a couple of washes. After she get the extensions out, she then does a partial highlight on my hair. In the winter I always try to go a little darker rather than staying bright blonde all over, and then in the summer I will go back to doing a full highlight all over. When Laken is done coloring my hair we wash the extensions and get them retaped and put back in my hair. It is a very long process but I love my long hair so I think it worth it. I am very thankful to have my sister do this for me because it is a lot on her.

When it comes to styling your hair extensions you can do just about anything, just as if it was your real hair. Depending on where you hair stylish places your hair extension you can still wear your hair in a pony tail. However, I am not one to wear my hair in a pony tail a lot because I do tend to get headaches. You are still able to curl or straighten your hair as if you were styling your own. Out of all the extensions I’ve tried they all held my curls very well, I do have naturally curly hair and they blend and style very well with my actual hair. One thing you can not do with the hair extension is go to bed with them wet, you must dry them. I am going to link all my hair tools I use below.

So these are the products that are sold in the salon Laken works at so I use these because it really convent to me and they are really great products. All of these products are available online, and I’ve linked them all so you can purchase them if you are interested.
R + CO BLONDE SHAMPOO/ CONDITIONER
I love using this blonde shampoo on my hair because I do have a more golden tone to my hair so using this blonde shampoo helps me get that perfect blonde color I love. Now if I feel my hair is getting dry and needs something else I will switch to this shampoo HERE and this conditioner HERE.
R + CO BLOW OUT BALM
This stuff is AMAZING!! If you struggle with crazy frizzy hair then this product is screaming your name because it helps you achieve that perfect frizz free blow out!
R + CO HIGH DIVE
This is a cream that keeps your hair hydrated and keep its’ shine. It’s formulated to smooth and seal the hair, and it does just that! I LOVE when my hair has that shine to it, and without this product I wouldn’t be able to achieve that goal.
R + CO SOFT WAVE SPRAY
I use this on my hair when I want to achieve that wavy look. I use this a lot more in the summer rather than in the winter. But it is a lightweight spray that adds natural volume and texture to your hair, while giving you those soft and shiny waves.
R + CO DRY SHAMPOO
I could not live without dry shampoo, I mean it is something that I use weekly.. I probably go through a bottle each month. But I really like this brand of dry shampoo because it doesn’t make your hair feel dirty, it adds that extra volume you need when it’s not super clean.
R + CO FLEXIBLE HAIR SPRAY
I didn’t realize we forgot to take a picture of the hair spray.. But this is the one I use each day, it is a flexible hair spray so it gives you that extra volume or hold you are looking for.
